1 Minute Typing Test
Type for 60 seconds and see your words per minute (WPM) and accuracy. The average in a 2018 Aalto University study of 168,000 volunteers was about 52 WPM.
One minute is the classic typing test length: long enough for a steady result, short enough to repeat a few times in a row. The timer starts with your first keystroke and the test ends after 60 seconds.
Your result
You get gross WPM, net WPM, and accuracy. Net WPM subtracts one word per minute for each uncorrected error. Signed-in runs count toward the 60 second leaderboard.
The "faster than about N% of typists" line after each run is an estimate. It places your net WPM on a bell curve with the average (51.56 WPM) and spread (standard deviation 20.2 WPM) measured from 168,000 volunteers in a 2018 Aalto University study, "Observations on Typing from 136 Million Keystrokes" by Dhakal et al. Real typing speeds have a longer fast tail than a bell curve, so read it as accurate to within a few points.
