Duels — Multiplayer Typing Spell Battles
Duels is the multiplayer game mode of Dawntype, a free typing game, currently in alpha. Two wizards face each other in an arena. You prepare a spell by typing its incantation, for example Fireball, FrostNova, or ChainLightning, then choose a target and dodge incoming attacks. Each wizard starts with 100 HP, and an online duel is won by taking two rounds first.
Ranked Duel
Search for a duel against another online player. Players are paired in queue order. Ratings are planned but not live yet. A registered account is required.
Friend Duel
Challenge someone you know. Create a lobby, share the invite link, and play a live duel as soon as they join. A registered account is required.
Solo Duel
Practice against an AI wizard at your own pace. Choose Easy (Apprentice), Medium (Journeyman), or Hard (Archmage) difficulty. Solo duels do not need an account.
Tutorial
A guided tutorial teaches movement, spell preparation, targeting, and casting.
How a duel works
- Move your wizard between positions on the arena circle with the arrow keys.
- Type an incantation to prepare a spell, then pick which of the opponent's positions to target. Offensive spells travel toward that position, healing spells restore your own HP, and Shield blocks incoming spells.
- Spells have cooldowns, so mixing quick spells with heavy hitters matters.
- In online duels, hits, damage, and HP are confirmed by the game server, so results are the same for both players.
